Born and raised in rural Montana, Clyde Aspevig started painting at the age of eleven. Instruction from his artist-uncle was the springboard that would set into motion a lifetime dedicated to fine art. He graduated from Eastern Montana College with a degree in Art Education, but soon gave up teaching to dedicate himself to easel painting. Today, he is widely considered to be the foremost representational landscape painter in the country. His deep attachment to the west is clearly evident in his body of work. The scene may be specific, but the emotion expressed cannot be contained by a regional label.

Many prominent professional organizations have recognized Aspevig with awards and accolades. A full member of the National Arts Club, New York, he was the recipient of the prestigious Prix De West Award during the 1997 exhibition held at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center in Oklahoma City. In 2007 he received the Masters of the American West Purchase Award at the Autry National Center. His paintings hang in major private and corporate collections including the Rockwell Museum, Corning New York; Montana Historical Society, Helena, MT; Museum of the Rockies, Bozeman, MT and the Pioneer Museum, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
