JACKSON, WYO. — Trailside Galleries of Jackson and Scottsdale, Ariz., in partnership with Gerald Peters Gallery of Santa Fe, N.M., and New York City, will present the ninth annual Jackson Hole Art Auction. The Session I sale will be conducted at noon Mountain Time on Friday, September 18, at Trailside Galleries in downtown Jackson Hole. The Session II sale will take place noon on Saturday at the award-winning Center for the Arts venue. Both sessions will be led by auctioneer Jason Brooks.


The Session I sale will feature artwork focusing on the emerging American painting collector. Session I highlights include Kenneth Riley’s “Cool and Clear” ($20/30,000) and G. Harvey’s “Café Carriage” ($18/24,000). It will also feature works by Clyde Aspevig, Dan Mieduch, Tucker Smith, Carl Rungius, Kyle Sims and many more.


Session II highlights include Albert Bierstadt’s masterwork “Wind River Country, Wyoming,” circa 1860 ($1/2 million). Richard Schmid’s “Olympic House” will be offered ($75/100,000), and Howard Terpning paintings that will be offered include “Good Medicine” ($100/150,000) and “Empty Handed” ($75/100,000). Featured wildlife lots include Bob Kuhn’s “Cheetahs on a Termite Hill” ($200/400,000), Carl Rungius’s “Grizzly Bear” ($250/450,000) and Robert Bateman’s “Great Cormorants” ($50/75,000).


Eight Top Tier artists have completed submissions, to be juried preauction by a panel of esteemed private collection curators. Top Tier paintings include Z.S. Liang’s “The Holy Rattle, Elkwater Lake Battle,” 1864, ($80/120,000), Jenness Cortez’s “Four American Visionaries” ($80/120,000) and Ken Carlson’s “Great Plains Pronghorn” ($45/55,000).


Session I artwork can be previewed at Trailside Galleries on Thursday, September 17, 10 am to 7 pm, and Friday, 9 am to noon. Session II artwork can be previewed at the Center for the Arts on Friday, 10 am to 7 pm, and Saturday, 9 am to noon pm.
